Regenerating Holidays

Return to Introduction  Previous page  Next page

To generate the list of holidays, use the DATA|Holidays Tools|Regenerate holidays menu item. You will rarely need to ask Q++ directly to generate the holidays list. When the need arises, either because you have modified a holidays rule or because someone else has, you will get a message from Q++ offering to re-generate the holidays list for you.

Generating the holidays list is very simple :

Select the range of years for which you want Q++ to calculate the result of the holidays rules. It is always a good idea to use a more extended range of years than you might think necessary. Remember that a 1999 diary might have a few day of 1998 at the beginning and a few days of 2000 at the end. You can set the default range of years that is proposed to you, using Preferences.

Click on the Generate button.

The entire process, on a recommended configuration, will take less than 30 seconds. If you have set any holidays rules which involve conflict checking, then at the end of generation the Generate button's caption will change to Conflicts Log.

Click on this button if you wish to verify that the conflicts you expected to occur did occur, and were handled as expected.

Note that you are also warned if the holiday rule to which a conflict rule referred to was deleted.
