Holidays Rules based on a Fixed Date

Return to Introduction  Previous page  Next page

Fixed date holidays recurrence rules are based on a fixed date, but not necessarily always occurring on the same date. An example is Christmas which is based on December 25th, but which may be moved to the following Monday in many countries, if December 25th falls on a Saturday or Sunday.

Usually fixed date holidays rules' are of the form "day of November 11". But in some cases you might need more flexibility such as being able to specify "the Monday after November 11" instead. Therefore, although fixed date holidays are simple in concept, there are many twists to them, such as Buß- und Bettag (Germany) :

You can also specify that the holiday rule is based on the Orthodox calendar (example below is Orthodox Christmas).

Advanced recurrence options and their useage are listed in Recurrence Rules.
