Chinese holidays are either based on the lunar calendar (the one used by most Chinese on a regular basis), or on the solar calendar (one whose calculation escapes most Chinese, a bit like the calculation of Easter in the Gregorian calendar).
Mid-Autumn Festival

Lunar holidays are similar in structure to fixed holidays, and roughly correspond to a date one month later than in the Gregorian calendar, since Chinese New Year (day 1 of month 1) occurs in the range of dates between January 20 and February 20th.

Solar holidays are based on the 12 minor and 12 major solar terms of the year, which in practice always fall within the same range of 3-4 dates. Each solar term has its own name.
Special Cases : You can also have the holiday moved, duplicated or deleted, if it falls either on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
Conflict : see Conflict Rules.
