Administration |
The main sections of the Administration chapter are:
How to install, or re-install, the Q++ Server and Q++ Workstations. |
How to update the Q++ Studio main program, its documentation and sample databases, as well as your license files, if necessary. |
A detailed description of the different folder used by Q++ Studio, both on the workstations and the server. |
The settings that can be used to customize the way in which the Q++ Server functions, particularly at night, during its nightly maintenance phase. |
The various programs and tolls located on the server, how they work, and under which conditions you may want to use them manually. |
The purpose of designing an administrator is twofold :
| • | Being aware of the details of Q++'s installation (the actual installation is done by Alter Ego), and installing regular updates to Q++, received by email. |
| • | Being the only person to accomplish certain tasks on the shared databases. These are intensive tasks, when all users must be logged-off. |
Of course the administrator is also the main contact with Q++ technical support and is usually the in-house resource person.
