Buffer End Pages |
|
Property of the ScriptLine : Pre-Processing.
This option is only needed in rare cases when QuarkXPress crashes for scripts that have very few pages (less than 10, usually). This usually happens only with Quark 6, and if the script contained Xpress Tags settings such as the ones used to apply rule above/below shading in GenTokens and Minicalendars. Symptoms of such cases are:
| • | QuarkXPress freezes with the CPU running at 100% once diary generation is complete and Quark is saving the output file. |
| • | A script generates fine once or twice, and then without any changes to the script, Quark crashes at the beginning of token processing the next time the script is run. |
Setting this option to true causes Q++ to append up to 16 pages containing various textboxes and tokens at the back of the diary when generating a diary, thus ensuring that the script runs long enough for QuarkXPress to synchronize all its parts, before trying to save the output file.
The possible values for this property are :
None (default) |
Using this option, tells Q++ that no buffer pages should be added. Note that under certain circumstances (using Quark 6 to generate a diary of fewer than 16 pages), this setting will be ignored and Q++ will use the Delete Only setting described below. |
Pages Only |
Q++ add 16 buffer pages containing sample boxes (as shown below), but will not make any attempt to either process the tokens in those pages, nor to delete these boxes at the end to minimize the changes made to the output file. |
Process Only |
After adding the 16 buffer pages, Q++ will process the tokens, but will not delete the textboxes in these buffer pages. |
Delete Only |
After adding the 16 buffer pages, Q++ will delete the textboxes in these buffer pages, without having tried to process the tokens in these buffer pages. |
Process and Delete |
After adding the 16 buffer pages, Q++ will process the tokens in these pages, and then will delete the textboxes in these buffer pages to minimize the changes made to the output file. |
The pages being inserted contain sample boxes and tokens that look as follows:

Note that the above is highly magnified (the actual size of the above box is 4cm by 4 cm only) and that the actual objects, if they are not deleted using either the Delete Only or Process and Delete options above, will be located at the top left of the output pages.
Finally, note that in all cases, except when using the option None, the additional buffer pages remain in place (ie. they are not deleted).
